So I went...

Ugg... Just like I thought, the reunion was dumb. Out of a graduating class of over 500, there were only 120 attendees at the event. Including spouses and dates - what a poor turn out. So I spent $200 on tickets ($98 each) and over $100 at the bar and had a mediocre time. I did see a few people I liked in high school that did OK for themselves - but no one ultra successful.

Basically it was the same old crap... the most popular girl in school got voted most changed - when really she looked exactly the same. When I got a chance to sit down and chat with her she told me that she was a freelance actress right now and waiting for her big break - what a loser... Not that my life is so fabulous but shoot at least I have a job, car, and house - plus I looked great and so did my date (my friend shel).

Dinner sucked too - some rubbery chicken with a raging garlic cream sauce (I hate garlic) It took me at least two drinks and 3 pieces of gum to get the taste out of my mouth...

So overall synopsis - waste of money, waste of time - but glad I went to at least find that out - always better to find out something sucks first hand....

Biting the bullet and Viva Las Vegas...

So I did it - i bit the stupid bullet and bought the tickets to my high school reunion... it's so dumb - $200 down the drain to see a bunch of people I really don't want to see... ohh well

I have been on this silly 3 day diet for 2 days now and have lost 4 pounds, as long as I can keep it up today I should be able to fit into my small suit (I have two - the fat suit and the small suit)... I'm sure I am just being dramatic and I will have a fine time... guess we will see...

I leave for Vegas on Sunday after church! WOO HOO - ohh wait I'm going there for work... ohh yea Im staying at the courtyard in Summerlin - not Vegas... well close enough i guess... one night I will have to go over to the Paris Buffet... mmmm I love all the sea food and salad... I will eat 2 pounds of crab and 2 plates of salad till I can't move, then the attendants can roll me back to my car. Well at least it's not Lubbock Texas...

I hate reunions...

So this Saturday is my 10 year high school reunion and I can't remember the last time I have been so anxious... I remember back in high school I was a total nerd, I was overweight and did not take great care of myself, you know bad hair, drabby clothes etc... needless to say I didn't have many friends - just my core gang. Of the close friends I did have I still talk to many of them and know what each of them is up to in life. I happen to live in the same one horse town I grew up in and still see a few people from high school out and about at Target or Albertsons - however they never stop and say hi to me, and nor do I to them.

Part of me wants to relive my youth and just see how much better I look than all the bald and fat people and show them how thin and successful I have become. Maybe see some other friends I wasn't super close to but still have a desire to see how they came out as adults. The best bonus would be to see the girls that wouldn't give me the time of day; old and worn out from having kids... hmmmm....

Then the other part of me says - I hated high school - people did horribly mean things to me, they wrote things on my backpack, made fun of me and really made me hate myself - why would I want to relive something like that - I wonder what it will be like - all the jocks in one corner, the band people in the other corner and me with all the other yearbook nerds...

The cost is $98 and I have to decide before tomorrow if I will be going. My friend Sarah said prior that she would go also and we could be each others date, but now she is saying that if we go she wants to bring her fiance - I can't blame her for wanting to show him off, however that does leave me dateless - I'm horrified that I will sit alone in the corner getting drunk and leave after a half hour.

I never get nervous about social situations anymore - I can't figure why this is turning my stomach...

ohh what to do? what to do? My friends are absolutely no help - Laurie says "you cant miss something like that" and Nicole says "don't waste your time" thanks guys...

Sleep is good...

I love sleep... I slept the whole way to work today on the train. Then I slept on the bus too... no particular reason - I got a good nights sleep, i just took advantage of the quiet atmosphere and dozed away. God bless metrolink and their comfy seats...

Souplantation!

So I LOVE, not like, not enjoy, LOVE Souplantation...

Barb, Mimi and I went there for lunch today... it was so yummy!

We are all members of Club Veg - so we got a new coupon e-mailed to us this morning. Barb drove and Mimi rode shot gun.

I had two delicious plates of salad - the usual - (red leaf lettuce, green bell pepper, mushrooms, olives, eggs, ranch, tuna tarragon and their delicious cheese foccacia dipped in balsamic vinegar) They also had my favorite soup today - cream of mushroom! it was soooooooooo good, but now I am full -

I think I need a latte to perk me up... Mimi and Barb enjoyed too...

Gotta Love Laughlin

So after my trip of death to Texas - I literally wanted to die... My dad tossed me in the car and we went to Laughlin for the weekend for a bowling tournament. I spent two days laying out by the pool with a drink by my side and got better quick.

I

I didn't bowl that great in the tournament so to make myself feel better I went to the outlet mall. Now, I love the Laughlin outlet, I always find the best stuff and dirt cheap. I bought 3 shirts, a pair of shorts, a pair of jeans, 2 hats, and a sweater for $200 - I am such a great bargain hunter... and all of it was good stuff, Hagger, Anchor Blue, Gap...

So feeling better and well rested I chalked up my weekend to a good use of time...

On to Amarillo...

You know for a small midwestern town Amarillo Texas is not that bad of a place! I pulled into town in my sweet Chrysler 300 with leather seats and sattelite radio (I cant belive I got away with renting that car) and stopped by the local Sonic.
Now Sonic has the most delicious Toaster Chicken Sandwich - OMG! Bacon, cheese, fried chicken, mayo on crispy buttered texas toast. I dripps when you pull it from the trademark foil bag. I was so in heaven! That with a Cherry Limeade and some onion rings - im such a fatty somtimes...

And my hotel was totally nice too - I stayed at the brand spankin new courtyard (my favorite of the marriot brands) and talk about posh! Free happy hour in the lobby every night and an awesome breakfast in the cafe. Wifi that was lightening fast in my room and ample close parking - Gosh I wish more hotels were like that one...

I worked my butt off the whole time I was in town and was deathly ill and exhausted by the time I left town. I did have time to swing by Braum's (the kings of cherry limeade) before I left. Downed half the limeade then filled it back up with the last of my bottle of vodka.... now that is a good combination - Bar's could make a fortune off Cherry Limeade and Skyy....

Hmmm so I boarded my southwest airlines flight home and left that God forsaken state. Thank goodness I went on vacation with my dad that weekend - I was on the verge of death...

Trip to Lubbock Texas

So - because I have a totally glamorous job I get to work all over the country. I went to Texas a few weeks ago. My trip reminded me why I don't live there anymore.

I started my adventure in Lubbock - talk about a dumpy city - all of the streets were torn up with construction and the Whataburger by my hotel sucked. I drove up to the drive thru window after a long day at work and ordered a Whatachicken. The girl at the window said with her cute little twang - "we dont have no whatachickens right now, they's fixin it up right now - be just a moment" so I waited like 15 min for a burnt chewy Whatachicken. The funny thing was that she never asked me to pull forward or come inside or anything, she just made the 4 cars behind me wait for their food too - ahhh gotta love apathetic Texas service.

My hotel (Holiday Inn Towers) was a dump too (never trust the jerks on yahoo travel) the maid apparently emptied all the trash for the floor and changed a bunch of sheets and what not and left it outside my door for not one, but two days - plus I don't think they had AC in the common areas, it was kinda sticky and swampy in the hallways... nice...

I was glad to move on to Amarillo...
