Sick in Las Cruces...

So I often get a sniffle or a hack from traveling to a different city... especially the dryer places my company sends me to... this time it was really bad... like really bad man...

After 2 days of feeling it coming on I could barely talk or swallow today... I actually left my work to go to the local urgent care for medical attention... Apparently I have a bacterial infection in my throat - which the Doctor promptly address with a shot. The nurse laughed when I pulled my arm sleeve up and lets just say I have been sitting on one cheek today... I hate being sick - but my two prescriptions should have me 100% for Japan... I am feeling amazingly better tonight so - all fingers crossed and all glory to God - I am gonna be totally healthy for my big trip...

I hate to post without a picture but when I feel better I will sneak up to Rudioso's Ski Apache for an amazing day of new mexico skiing... that will be something to show...

Disaster

Disaster is putting it lightly... Yesterday Shel threw Lisa a bridal shower at our house. There were games, snacks, and drinks - they all had a great time but left the house in ruins... It took me over an hour just to get all the trash bagged up and off the floor.

6 feet...

Over the last week stormy weather descended on Southern California with a vengeance... I have not seen rain and snow like this in a long time... after the dump there was about 6 feet of snow in the local mountains... just gorgeous!
I could not resist sneaking up for a snow day this week... the fresh cut corduroy was calling my name...

The lift lines and slopes were empty and just a blast to race down... I got in 10 runs in just a couple hours...
It was pretty clear up there also; I could see for miles from the top...

One More!

Praise God... Desi joined our Japan team today - she will be caring for the waddlers and toddlers (something I have no idea about) 14 days till we go to Japan! I still cant get over it... God is amazing....

Latest Storm...

Friday it was actually snowing on my way to work...

it was pretty but totally iced up my car windows (not cool)

after the storm passed the new snow on the mountains looked so nice...

Chicken Satay Sticks...

I was perusing the shelves at Fresh and Easy and found some spicy Thai peanut sauce... My mind immediately started dreaming of savory satay sticks to dunk in the sauce so I pounded out some chicken and slipped in some skewers...
They grilled up nicely and looked great, but were very bland... the peanut sauce wasn't that great either... the pictures looked great tho... which is all that really matters right? ;-)

Tagged...

Nicole is always sending me junk email... Here is the response to her tag...

This is the 4th picture in the 4th folder of MyPictures

This is my dressing area from August of 2007. I tried to install decorative door knobs to find that the cabinet doors were hallow and would not accept a knob. I still have this hole, but it is painted white now....

A Joyful Arrival!

It's here! It's here! My Snuggie finally arrived! It made my day!

I ripped it from the package and put it right on! Ohh it is everything I imagined it would be! so warm, so soft... I spent hours trying out all of the things you can do with a snuggie!
You can work at your desk:
You can read a book:
Accept an award:
Cuddle a stuffed fish:
You can eat a brownie:
Pretend to watch TV on a computer monitor:
Put out a fire:
Feed some fish:
Best of all you can snuggle with friends:
But be careful when sharing your snuggle with little people, they might get lost inside and suffocate...
I think I may love my snuggie more than my knife... well... maybe...

Horrible Misunderstanding...

I got a text while I was out of town:

PASTOR DAVE:
"Bryan I am so sorry to hear about your Dad; let me know if there is anything I can do"

As I am reading this the phone rings, it's Sandy from chuch...

SANDY:
"Bryan; I talked to Vickie... are you OK?"

ME:
What are you talking about?

SANDY:
"Oh no..." (silence)

ME:
"Sandy! Should I call my sister? What is going on?"

SANDY:
(more silence) (sniffling)

by this time I am shaking thinking my dad is dead or hurt or something so I pull over and while shaking profusely dial my dads cell phone...

DAD:
"Hello there!"

ME:
"Oh my God - Dad! Are you OK!?!?"

DAD:
"No! I'm not OK, the city came to the store and took the trash dumpster! I paid the bill but they said they didn't get the check..."

ME:
"Bursting into tears/laughter - Dad the church thinks your dead"

DAD:
"Dead?!? No, just mad about the dumpster..."

many corrective conversations ensued after that...

Apparently someone called the church named Bryan asking about funeral arrangements for his father and they thought it was me... for the love of... what a horrible misunderstanding...

Where have I been?

Phoenix... I have said it before - I am not a fan... I just don't the like sand and layout of the city - at least it wasn't 118 degrees like last time I was there.

I got to have dinner with my mom and Jim twice so that was cool.

I also got to meet my new little cousin Kate. She is a cutie...

I got a ticket for driving 42 in a 30 zone; the cop was a total jerk and decided to lecture me on how this is not California and I just can't come into town and bla bla bla... he didn't appreciate that I was shuffling through papers while he went on and on... I think I will fly back to Phoenix and fight the ticket... maybe I will get lucky... anyway I'm back now...
