Legally Blonde

The other night the gang went to see Legally Blonde at the Pantages... It was so delightful to see a funny movie adapted into a stage play...

We had a nice time and laughed a lot... this blurry pic is all I got of us...

Stuffed Peppers...

I had some ground chicken breast in the freezer so I thawed it out and decided to make stuffed peppers with it... please ignore the random lime in the background... that was for my vodka soda not the peppers...

Uncle Ron always brings me Cookies seasoning from Iowa so I decided to use that to give the meat some flavor...

I filled the peppers and baked them to a golden brown... when they were done I forgot to take a pictures and decided I wasn't hungry any more... so I put them into the fridge for a later meal...

I'm sure they will be great....

Kaiser Roll

On Sunday I was on my own for lunch so I stopped at Albertsons and saw these fresh kaiser rolls in the plastic bins adjacent to the bakery... they looked so nice I decided to get one for a sandwich... I buttered the inside and placed it on the top rack of the grill as the chicken breast cooked.

I added mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickle, salt and pepper under a freshly grilled, spicy montreal steak chicken breast

It was a lovely sandwich... I don't know why I put it on a plate... as usual I stood over the sink and gobbled it down...

Growing Up...

I just hate getting older... I remember the good old days when I used to go clubbing a couple nights a week with no care of jobs or other such annoyances... but times change... life changes... I got so grown up so quick...

Tonight I met Sarah and Liz for dinner... the three of us used to hit the Metro Club all the time back in the day... Since then Sarah is married with a kid, Beth is general manager of a Trader Joe's and I have a career and a mortgage... how did it all happen so fast? It was great catching up with the girls - it felt like old times...

Here we are in 1998... decked out for a night on the town...

and us now... still just as hip... ;-) minus the tragic 90's clubbing clothes...

BMT Sandwich

I made the most delightful sandwich last night... I started off with a moderately toasty English muffin...
I slathered both sides with mayonnaise then I covered them with a obscenely thick slice of tomato and some crispy turkey bacon...
yes I ate it over the sink in only 3 bites, and yes I had a second one just like it... ohh it was so good!

Emotional Decisions...

I need a new mattress... the one i have is 10 years old and sagging in the middle... my back hurts...

Jill recommended I go to the JCPenny Outlet for a bargain and she was right! $350 for a nice Simmons... but what to choose? firm? soft? pillow top? memory foam? I laid on countless beds for extended periods with my own pillow and I am more confused now than when I started...

This is such and emotional decision... I spend 6-8 hours a night in my bed and I don't want to make a mistake... on the other hand, I don't want to continue sleeping on my ratty old mattress... hmmmm what to do?

Salad and Some chicken...

I made a wonderful chicken salad on Saturday... it was so crisp and fresh...

Also while I was cleaning out my phone I found this picture... yum-o where is that from? I don't remember but it looks great!

Dinner host...

One nice thing about having my own pad is being able to host dinner when I want... Sunday I had Albert and Rhonda over for a bbq, tonight Dad and Uncle Ron... we had a feast... Uncle Ron brought spinach dip and crackers for an appetizer...

I marinated some tequila lime chicken overnight so it would be tender...

On the grill I had corn on the cob, potatoes with olive oil and seasoning and the chicken...
I thought some butter mushrooms would be nice also so I had them on the stove...

Everything came out wonderful... it's nice to enjoy a good meal with people you love...

Anyone else hungry? c'mon over!

Empty...

Since Shel moved out, no one has bought food... and the fridge is empty... It never occurred to me that I would have to buy all the food now... So $70 later I returned from Ablertsons...

Trashy Salmon...

I felt like something light for dinner so I made some salmon... I was feeling trashy so I put it on a paper plate with a plastic fork...

Fiddler on the Roof

Last night the gang went to Hollywood to see Fiddler on the roof at the Pantages - it was great...

Before the show we had Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles...

I had the #13 a succulent chicken breast and a waffle with butter and syrup - what a great meal...

We all had a wonderful time...

She is actually gone...

Well August 1st was 8 long years that Shelly and I had lived together and she decided to move on... She has warned me the day was coming for months and over the past few weeks the living room started to resembled a storage container.
Finally over the weekend moving day arrived. I will miss her terribly, we had so many fun adventures as roomies over the years...
But I think it's just one of those things as you grow up; relationships change and you kinda need your own space. The house has been quiet this week, very quiet...

Etreme Makeover Door Edition...

For some reason my kitchen door was exploding... I have never seen anything like it before... kinda scary

So I took myself down to Home Depot and bought myself a new door which I installed - looks great and it was so easy!

Now I just need to paint it...
