So on saturday I was meeting with with Sandy. She is my coach, and really the voice of reason in my life. She asked me to reflect on the last year and I thought about my prayer to grow the small group a year ago. The group was really in a sporadic, low attendance season back then and many of us prayed for the group to grow. Not only grow but become something different, something meaningful. And man has it...
Since last year the group has grown from 5 to 11 and the majority are very faithful. We do a lot together; study of course, vacation, dinner, game nights - It has been a fun journey, one that I am sure is not over... God is so good - he gives us just what we need when we need it.
Sadly Carley is leaving our group... She is going away to Tanzania to continue her call to teach English in a foreign land. She put on a great fundraising dinner last week where we ate some awesome Tanzanian food and got to hear about her mission and pray for her.
Then this weekend we had a BBQ at Stacy's place to say goodbye... Bitter sweet and fun...
